Make the Road Action Fund Endorses Representative Tim Bishop New York Congressional District 1
Make the Road Action Fund said Representative Bishop's record for working-class Latino, immigrant and LGBTQ communities makes the case for his re-election.
"We are proud to endorse Tim Bishop for Reelection to the House of Representatives. Tim is a true advocate for our communities on important issues such as comprehensive immigration reform and accessible higher education, and he has led the charge in Washington to increase the minimum wage," said Javier Valdes, Make the Road Action Fund's co-executive director.
The Make the Road Action Fund builds political power rooted in working class Latino communities,promotes policy solutions that improve the lives of all New Yorkers, and strengthens the movement for justice through electoral and grassroots organizing to advance progressive political and policy change in New York State. It is the sister organization of Make the Road New York, which has 14,000 members across Long Island and New York City and often involves itself in policy campaigns in immigrant communities.
"Make the Road Action Fund has been a strong voice for Latino and working class communities and it is an honor to have their endorsement." Bishop said "I will continue to stand up for our working class communities by creating good paying jobs, fighting for comprehensive immigration reform and making higher education more affordable and accessible."
Rep. Bishop has been a leader on comprehensive immigration reform and raising the minimum wage.
He filed a discharge petition to force an up and down vote on raising the minimum wage and has been a strong advocate for comprehensive immigration reform since first running for Congress.
Representative Bishop was first elected to Congress in 2002 and is currently running for his seventh term.
